Exemplary support for elite sport by the Swiss Armed Forces

For years, the Swiss Armed Forces have been setting an impressive example in the promotion of top athletes. In close cooperation with the Federal Office of Sport (FOSPO), they offer young talents and established athletes ideal conditions for combining competitive sport and military service.

With a clear commitment to promoting elite sport, the armed forces offer various support options.

Support from the armed forces is subsidiary – it specifically complements the elite sport promotion concepts of the sports federations.

These programmes are aimed at athletes with international potential and are of course also open to women. They make it possible to combine training, competitions and military obligations in a meaningful way.

Support from the Swiss Armed Forces only works in conjunction with the measures of the federations. The prerequisite is the integration of the support instruments into the elite sport promotion concept of the respective federation.
